Information to be included in the CV

You can declare that your references are “available upon request”. Or you can provide judges, the former is usually your current employer and the latter your previous employer.

Make sure you provide the correct full name, job title, and contact details.

Accreditations and post-name letters

Doctors use Royal College post-nominal letters (or the letters after their names) in their job descriptions to prove that they have obtained the appropriate accreditation.

Their use, however, can be interpreted as meaning that the physician retains his current affiliation with the competent authority.

Therefore, if their membership has expired, there is a risk (albeit remote) of being sent back to the GMC for investigation.

We advise physicians who have passed their membership exams and have been admitted as members of their Royal College, but whose enrollment has expired, to indicate in brackets the year in which the most recent accreditation was obtained, e. g. "MRCGP (2003)".

If you’re interested in research, your objective statement could speak to your desire to find a solution to every problem – or your statement could be about how you will to help people through the gift of medicine. Work on your objective statement and write something totally unique, something that will make a medical school consultant think.

Benefit-oriented work experience: Med schools’ admissions are very competitive, and only about half (or less) of the students who apply are actually accepted. Almost all admitted students will have a prestigious internship; so just having one won’t help you much.
