How to use the breville one touch tea maker

What’s better on a cold day than sharing a cup of hot tea with my family? Wire. The Breville One-Touch Tea Maker makes it easy to make and share a delicious cup of tea.

Tea’s not as simple to make as you might think – each variety has its own specific temperature and brew time for the best taste. This kettle takes the guesswork out of brewing beer. Its variable temperature control gives me direct control of the temperature the water heats to and it also offers several preset temperatures.

The tea basket automatically rises and lowers into the water for even brew.

The sixty-minute keep-warm function allows us to drink whenever we want and the time elapsed since brewing on the LCD monitor allows you to see at a glance how long the brewed tea has been there.

There’s even an auto-start function, which means I can have fresh tea waiting for me when I wake up each morning. If all I need is hot water, the coffee machine is perfect as a kettle. Tea’s never been easier (or better tasting) than since I’ve gotten this machine.

Design, function and performance: the Breville BTM800XL tea maker with just one touch

Good – Breville BTM800XL

Preset time and temperature: There is a huge variety of teas, and each tea seems to need its own brewing temperature and time. Keeping track of all of this can be tricky, which is why I love that the Breville One-Touch has a few presets. There’s a setting for herbal, black, green, white, and oolong, which easily covers everything I make for my family and myself.

Configurable time and temperature: Sometimes it’s nice to go off the beaten path. This kettle also allows me to manually select the temperature and brewing time. I can choose the temperature in five degree increments from 160 to 212 degrees and the time in thirty second increments up to ten minutes.

Automatic tea basket: My husband likes it very much. Instead of letting the tea stand still, the tea basket automatically moves up and down. This keeps the tea moving, allowing water to flow around it. You get much better infusion this way, plus it’s kind of fun to watch the basket move up and down!

Time from production monitoring: Fresh tea is delicious. Old tea? Not so much. This kettle has an LCD monitor that keeps track of how long it’s been since your current batch of tea has been brewed. The kettle will keep the tea warm for as long as you want it to, so it’s easy to time exactly how long you need to wait until you brew your next batch.

Bad – Breville BTM800XL

Unable to pass in the dishwasher: Unfortunately, this kettle can’t be sent through the dishwasher. However, that doesn’t mean it’s hard to clean. All I have to do is boil water in it for three minutes and it’s ready to go again.

Short cable: The cord on this unit isn’t as long as I’d like it to be. I have many sockets on hand, but I still needed to use an extra cable to connect it. On the other hand, if you’re short on space it means you won’t have a bunch of useless cord cluttering up your space.

A well-prepared cup of tea can turn a stressful day into a relaxing one. I always think sharing a cup of tea is a great way to connect with family, and the Breville One-Touch makes that pleasure even easier. The easy to set time and temperature make it easy to use and the presets allow me to get the perfect brew for any type of tea.

The automatic tea basket is great and so is the timer at first sight. I couldn’t be more pleased with the tea this kettle has made and I’m looking forward to enjoying many more cups.

How to use the breville one touch tea maker

This post was last updated on 09/03/19.

I was lucky enough to win a tea maker with Breville at a recent Steepster bout. This review was significantly delayed, but I really wanted to test it. I’ve had a Zarafina for years and still like it a lot but I feel that I’ve outgrown it in a lot of ways. Plus who doesn’t like to have something shiny and new? I have to say it’s simply the coolest tea gadget I’ve ever had.

  • A beautiful combination of glass and stainless steel
  • It offers preset brewing times and water temperatures, but you can also customize these settings.
  • It has a separate button for hot water
  • The automatic timer function will prepare your tea in the morning
  • The Keep Warm function keeps tea warm for up to an hour
  • It is quite easy to clean
  • It is a lot of fun to watch the basket mechanism in action
  • Water circulates very well in the tea leaves

  • The sizes are expressed in milliliters.
  • You cannot use less than 500ml of water
  • The jug is quite heavy
  • Large footprint compared to other variable temperature kettles
  • Some of the plastic comes into contact with the tea

Object won in a contest sponsored by Breville.

Update

This review was written a while ago so I wanted to give an update. It appears that Breville has changed its name to “The Tea Maker” so I have changed the title of this post to reflect that. You can know it as a one-touch tea maker.

Almost a decade later, Breville’s the Tea Maker is still hard to beat when it comes to brewing devices. My kettle was a real workhorse, helping me make over a thousand tea reviews. I’ve since moved on to a simpler variable temperature kettle but I would still highly recommend the Tea Maker from Breville.

About Nicole

My name is Nicole and I love tea. very! I have been writing about my love of the leaf since 2008. My work has appeared in World Tea News, The Daily Tea, Tea Journey and other publications. I am the winner of the World Tea Award 2018 for the best tea blog.

Start brewing beer with the push of a button.

All the controls for the coffee machine are located on the base in front of the kettle socket. Press the “Tea Type” button to cycle through the six brewing modes of the tea infuser: Green, Black, White, Herbal, Oolong and Custom. Once you have made your selection, simply press the large tea button to start the brewing cycle. Depending on the mode, the tea maker will heat the water to the correct temperature: 212 degrees Fahrenheit for black and herbs (100 C), 195 degrees F for oolong (90.6 C), 185 degrees F for white (85 C). ), 175 degrees F for green (79.4 C). To adapt to unusual mixes, use the custom mode to manually adjust the brewing temperature and time. There are dedicated keys on both sides of the LCD screen.

The brew basket lowers and rises by itself.

When the contents of the kettle are at the right temperature, you are ready for a show. The magnetically attached coffee basket slowly and automatically lowers into the hot water bath to soak. The tea leaves then add flavor to the water for the allotted time, after which the basket emerges from the water on its own. This activity not only precisely controls the brewing of the tea, but also means that the machine can run unattended.

The tea kettle also works as a standard electric kettle.

Plus, by refilling the machine the night before, you can program the tea machine to brew a fresh morning carafe. For this purpose, the infuser also has a “keep warm” function designed to keep your tea warm for up to 60 minutes. For safety reasons, removing the decanter also disables this feature, so be sure to turn it back on when you’re done pouring.

Performance

Breville explains in the manual that the tea maker “is not calibrated for commercial or scientific use,” but my tests on the thermocouple confirmed that the machine is quite accurate. The temperature readings I recorded ranged from 1 to 3 degrees from the value displayed by the tea machine. Of course, the tea maker lagged a few seconds behind the more sensitive thermocouple device.

The tea I made with the Breville coffeemaker was invariably good enough, although I admit to being much more of a coffee eater than a tea drinker. I also prefer strong tea; Fortunately, the machine also allows you to individually adjust the brewing strength for each of the brewing modes, essentially extending the brewing time. I also like the Breville basket stirring function which raises and lowers the basket during preparation to further concentrate the final product.

Of course, the breville robot’s tea-making skills can’t bend the laws of physics and make teapots faster than traditional teapots. The machine still needs to boil the water in the pot before softening it, which takes 6 to 7 minutes depending on the amount of liquid prepared. Add to that the standard 3 to 4 minute soak time and the whole process takes about 10 to 12 minutes of your time. It’s just as easy to make single or double cups with a Breville tea maker, and the less water you use, the faster it will reach temperature.

Application

Is the $250 One button Breville tea kettle for you? If you are the type dedicated to the art of making tea at home and are looking for a very efficient and highly automated machine, this machine will satisfy you without a doubt. Of course, not everyone can or should spend that much money on a high-quality homemade mug alone. If you’re short on cash but still want a flexible tea infuser, another good option is the $ 100 coffee maker and Mr. Kettle. Coffee. While it lacks a robotic basket for hassle-free brewing and less skillful temperature control, the less expensive Mr. Coffee offers similar presets for specific tea varieties.

For those who need a kitchen appliance that can make coffee and that includes an electric kettle that thoroughly heats water over a wide range of temperatures, look no further than the Oxo Barista Brain Brewing System for 12 cups for $ 300. It might cost another $ 50, but Oxo hybrid skills will appeal to both coffee and tea addicts.

Product Revision:

Yes, I know I’ve already checked it out. I’m revisiting this product because if you’ve been reading my recent posts, you are aware that I recently had a tragedy involving my beloved One-Touch Tea Maker: I broke the carafe or “jug” as it’s called by the manufacturer, Breville.

I was devastated. I was so depressed that I didn’t write a review for a few days.

This device – seriously! – it is my most used appliance, second only to the refrigerator. The refrigerator counts as the most used only because it’s always running. But I use my Breville One-Touch more than I use a stove, washing machine, toaster or any other appliance other than one that needs to be plugged in and running constantly.

So when I broke the decanter, I was heartbroken. I’ve had this appliance for four years now and had become dependent upon it. Not only does it make my black and green teas perfectly, as well as herbal teas, but it also heats the water to the perfect temperature so that I can properly brew Oolong, yellow and white teas. (Preparo i tè Oolong e Yellow nel mio gaiwan e i miei tè bianchi sono immersi in una teiera separata poiché la maggior parte delle foglie di tè bianco funzionano meglio in una teiera di ceramica.) Come avrei dovuto riscaldare l’acqua ora? Yup!

Yes, I know. #FirstWorldProbles, right? Or maybe it should be #SpoiledTeaBloggerProblems.

Anyway, on Sunday I broke the jug. I visited the Breville website where parts and accessories are sold. And there I could purchase a replacement lid, power base, basket, basket lid, and even the cute tea spoon that came with the machine. But the pitcher was nowhere to be found on the website. What? How is it possible? I sent a request email to a customer to find out how to get a replacement decanter.

By the next day, my devastation has turned into despair, so rather than waiting and hoping for a reply from the inquiry email, I called the customer service line the next day only to learn that the reason they don’t sell the jugs is that it’s not cost efficient. It’s a complex piece of equipment, and apparently it would be too expensive for them to manufacture them for sale. My option at this point was to buy another unit.

My husband assured me that we’d get another one, after all, he knew how important it was to me. (I have a pretty good hubby, even though he doesn’t always understand my obsession with tea.)

Later that Monday afternoon I got a call from Breville customer service and it was like a bright ray of sunshine illuminated my fate and despair! They offered to send me a refurbished one-touch tea maker for free if I sent them my still working power base. So I sent them my power base and was immediately notified by email that my “order” was being processed. My new (well, refurbished!) Tea Maker arrived a week later and now I’m brewing tea again! Yup! Happy ending to my depressing story.

There are two reasons why I return to this review:

  1. In his absence, I remembered how extraordinary Breville One-Touch truly was. If you drink tea often, if you drink more than a cup or two of tea a day, you SHOULD really stock up on one of these great devices. You will like it. Yeah, I know there’s a certain charm to brewing tea the old fashioned way, but, once you realize how much more tea you will enjoy with one of these devices … you will be happy you got one for yourself. It’s the best thing invented since Shennong had a few leaves from a tea tree fall into his cup of hot water. (Check out that story here.)
  2. I really felt I needed to comment on Breville’s spectacular customer service! Hey, they didn’t HAVE to send me a refurbished unit at no cost. I’ve had my Breville for four years! And I used it every single day of those four years, save a day or two when we might have been on a day trip or something (we haven’t been on vacation in a while!) I am BIG on customer service. I refuse to buy another Samsung product because I received poor service from them many years ago. And by the same token, if I find a company that treats me well, I’m going to be sharing my story of love for that company to anyone who will listen. I love Breville, and when I buy other products (I need a blender soon as well as a food processor!) I’m going to be looking for Breville because I know they’re a brand I can trust.

Thanks Breville! Thanks for the outstanding customer service! You have a customer for life!
