How to organize your life

Getting organized isn’t everything. Being organized is even more difficult. You want to know not only how to organize your life, but also how to keep it.

How to organize your life

Organization does not start with wardrobes, but with an attitude.

The organization doesn’t look like Pinterest images or Martha Stewart’s spreads. It simply means that you are prepared for life – and 80% of that preparation is mental. Organization starts with your attitude, your attitude. If you want to know how to organize your life, you need to begin by realizing that your attitude is under your control.

No matter how we organize ourselves, life will always be out of our control. But our reaction to life – our attitude – is completely under our control.

We don’t have to be trapped by the whims of our moods. We can choose our attitude, repent of our complaints and console ourselves, because God gives us the grace and strength to do so.

Here are articles I’ve written over the years on how to organize your life by organizing attitude:

How to organize your life

Have you ever looked at these super organized houses and wondered how they do it? The truth is, there are no magic buttons or shortcuts to tidy up your home. All it takes is a little planning, dedication and the right system. And while a closet may be organized differently than, say, a pantry, there are a few key tips that should be followed, regardless of what you’re organizing.

To help you solve any home organization project, we asked professional organization expert Rachel Rosenthal for help. Whether you want to finally tidy up your wardrobe or really need to clean your kitchen cabinets, these tips can help you.

Here’s how to organize almost everything in your home.

Be realistic about the organizational system

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

The key to a well-organized home is a plan and a commitment to stick to it. Anyone can plan a complicated organizational system, but if that doesn’t work for you and your family, it hardly makes sense. According to Rosenthal, it is important to “be realistic about how you and your family function and create organizational systems based on the way you live.”

Sure, an elaborate wardrobe or shoe storage plan sounds good in theory, but if your family really needs a shoe basket by the back door, it’s best to stick to simplicity.

Free up space

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

It may feel a bit “chicken or egg”, but before you can organize any space, you need to make sure you have only the essentials. A cluttered home will only be more difficult to organize, so focus on storing the things you really need and communicating what you don’t need. Spend a day (or maybe a few days) browsing through the trash, cupboards, basement and kitchen pantry and focus only on items you’ve recently worn, used or eaten.

It’s easy to wonder if you’ll be able to put that prom dress back on someday (spoiler alert: you won’t), but a well-organized home requires a reality check on everything you own.

Stay up to date thanks to the calendar system

One of the main reasons an organizational system fails is when life gets in the way. Between work and social events, most of us rarely remember tidying up our closets by color or cleaning our pantries every month. Rosenthal suggests planning your days, even those mundane daily activities.

“Freeze your schedule times for everything from exercise to grocery shopping to laundry,” she says. “Try to strictly follow your schedule and complete tasks when you say you want to avoid feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.”

Add a drop zone

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

While your ultimate goal should always be to stay organized, there are simply times when you need to put something aside and tackle it later. Alright then! Consider creating a drop zone for all the items you need to organize, but you don’t have time to do that yet.

For mail, Rosenthal suggests adding a card release zone near the front door for items like invoices, receipts, magazines, and more. Consider a few vertical binders, separated by urgency: one for reading, one for magazines and tickets, and one for shredding or folding in the office. That way, you’re one step closer to organizing these documents, but it’s simple enough that you can stick to it as you walk in the door.

Consider a drop zone wherever you have a complex organizational system that takes time to follow. A basket for clothes to order or a basket for books that need to be rearranged can help avoid cluttered surfaces.

Go vertical with your storage

” data-caption=”” data-expand=”300″ data-tracking-container=”true” />

No matter how many closets and pantries you have, you never feel like you have enough. And if you lack storage options, keeping things tidy can be difficult. One way to maximize available memory is vertical thinking. Rosenthal suggests creativity in spaces that you rarely use. Whether it’s under the bed or on top of the closets, there’s probably some wasted space you can use.

“If you have extra floor space, consider adding footstools for storage,” he says. “Gli scaffali verticali o i cassetti di plastica ti consentono di controllare e riporre qualsiasi cosa, dai vestiti extra agli snack.”

How to organize your life: a guide for the restless

ARTICLE THEMES (scroll down – content starts below)

PART 1: How to organize your life if you are always worried about everything?

1. Start slowly

There is no need to suddenly start organizing EVERYTHING.

This will certainly make you anxious.

Instead, try something simple that you can organize right away and gain an immediate sense of control. To me, the first & perfect thing to start absolutely anything is writing down a plan.

Again, you don’t want things going too fast. Start with the simplest thing you can plan right now and it will be your day. Saving tasks to your daily planner will help you take control of your time.

This is the first thing you want to check if you want to get organized.

How to organize your life

You can use a plain sheet of paper, a store-bought notebook, or choose a printable daily planner that you can download and use right away.

2. Get rid of the clutter – a little

How to organize your life

Don’t go into full cleaning mode and start organizing every corner of your home.

I’ve done this many times before and trust me, it leaves youreally tired.

Instead, try to find some things that are causing the greatest suffering in your life and get rid of them.

It could be your phone (do you really need so many applications?), Computer folders, an overcrowded closet, or even something as abstract as negative relationships.

If you find that the activity is too big, break it down into smaller steps.

I’ve written about tackling every big project in your life, so check it out before you commit to something big: how to put an end to everything you’ve put down

Once you have cleaned up a few things in your life, you will be able to breathe easier. It will also give you more energy to take care of other things.

3. Create a master list of sorted tasks

How to organize your life

In the main to-do list, write down any activities that run through your head.

Zbyt wiele informacji sprawia, że twój umysł jest bardzo zajęty without żadnego pożytecznego celu, więc zapisz to! You will immediately feel less overwhelmed.

Do you have to complete many different tasks? Sort them by importance.

Here’s an easy way to do it:

  1. Write down any activity you can think of on a piece of paper.
  2. Sort tasks to “Very Important”, “Important”, “Sometime Later” and “If I Have Time”.

Task sorting is an easy method I’ve learned when I started my planning journey. I have noticed that everything is going smoothly with the plan. It’s even better if the plan has some kind of system or structure and task sorting lists have both!

You decide what to do and create the order.

If you’re a procrastinator (like most people, you know!), Ordering tasks is a must for you.

Create an intention to do important things instead of choosing something that isn’t that important. Sometimes we do this to create a feeling of “being busy” when, in reality, we’re just lazy!
