Come on, admit it … you probably have a pile of rubber-stamped business cards somewhere in your drawer. These little pieces of paper are filled with useful information, so it can be difficult to throw them away. Ask yourself these 3 questions to find the best strategy:

1. Are you a digital person or do you prefer to keep your business cards in paper format? I’ll go over the paper solutions below, but if you prefer digital, it’s a good idea to put all your contacts into an app that can sync with your phone, like Google Contacts or Outlook. You can have your information with you wherever you go and it will also be backed up, unlike a lost paper address book where it is impossible to retrieve it.

2 How many business cards do you need to manage?

  • If you don’t have many: If you prefer paper cards, it is relatively easy to manage a limited number of cards. You can manually enter the information into a traditional address book or use the card file system, Rolodex, or a business card address book. If you switch to digital technology, you can simply plug them into your system.
  • If you have several:You probably need to opt for a digital system and also consider having a scanner like CardScan. They work surprisingly well, and there are even smartphone apps that do the same job with the camera! Some of these solutions allow you to keep a pictorial view of the card itself if you like the visual elements of colors and logos.

3. Why are you collecting them? More importantly than how you store them, you need to make sure you have a system for acting on the cards you receive. If you run a business, you might want to consider a Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) program like Sage ACT! or Salesforce. com. For household needs, you can use paper cards to trigger a reminder until you receive your to-do list and system information of your choice. If you have a project like a remodel or a large event, a business card booklet as mentioned above is a great way to keep the cards handy as you reference them frequently.

If you have a card backlog, consider bringing one of your kids or teen next door manager to your system for a few dollars an hour, then make sure you have the process of handling new ones. We recommend that you spend a day at the office once a week to get bills, mail, and just that kind of quick job at your desk. Each card only takes a few seconds if you prioritize it. How to organize business cards

Do you have a collection of business cards? Perhaps you have a collection stored on a Rolodex system, hidden in a box or briefcase, or scattered throughout your office, dresser, car, and purse. Many people find it difficult to find a way to organize the business cards they receive. Read on to learn about the strategy for organizing your business card collection and the resources you can use to stay organized and organized.

Step 1 – Explain what you want to achieve with the business cards you have. How do you use the information on these cards? What’s working? Do you turn to a business card collection when looking for contact details or suppliers? Do you use contact details for marketing purposes or to develop your commercial or professional network? And the big question… If you didn’t have the business card, what would happen and what would you do?

Consider how you handle other contact information. Do you have a paper column? Do you use an electronic contact information management system? Should you incorporate your list information into this other system or will it work for you to maintain several contact information management systems?

Being clear about what you need the data for and how you use it is a key step in determining the right organizational system for you. Don’t skip this step! This will waste hours and a system that is unlikely to work well.

Step 2 – Bring your business card collection in one place. If you’re like many, you have several organizing systems you tried to use with business cards as well as several collections in your home, office, car and bags. Link your cards.

Step 3 – Order and delete your collection. Here are some ideas on how to do it:
If you realize in step 1 that you never use some of the cards you have (a Rolodex that hasn’t moved in years or a pile found on the back of a drawer that you didn’t even know about), let those cards go.

Step 4 – Again, based on your decisions made in Step 1 decide what you want to do with your now sorted and purged business card collection.

Perhaps it will come back to your home or office as a consolidated and tidy collection in a suitably selected container for future use. It might be a good idea to reuse the box that previously held your business cards. If you don’t have one, ask for one at a shop that prints business cards.

Maybe you need to digitize your business card collection to make the date more useful for you. This would allow to link the business card data to the electronic address book or to be linked to accounts on social networks. The size of your business card collection will determine what steps you need to take to scan and collect the data.

Evernote is a great place to store the business cards of the people you meet. Most of us have some sort of container filled with customer cards, networking events, salespeople, contractors, etc. I’ve seen drawers, boxes, old school books, notebooks, and even shopping bags full of papers. Such collection formats make it very difficult and time-consuming to use and find the right person card. Storing your cards in Evernote is a much more efficient solution.

Stop digging in the piles and start searching Evernote.

When you save cards in Evernote, the text on the card image becomes searchable text. So, even if you don’t remember the name of the person you met, you can only search with one word on the card. For example, if you are looking for a fence repair company, you can search for “fence” or “repair”. Evernote then draws any card containing those words. This turns 10-15 minutes of searching in that tab field into a 2-second search on your computer, phone or tablet!

How to save cards in Evernote

There are several ways to save cards in Evernote. One way is to log into the Evernote app on your phone or tablet, open the note, and take a photo of the card you want to keep. You can also scan the cards with a scannable scanner or desktop scanner. Scanning and digitizing card information is a Premium feature of Evernote. First, take a picture of the card

The Evernote note is created with the card when I take a photo. Evernote will take this as an image. Therefore, all the text on the card becomes searchable data. If you wrote a handwritten note on a business card, the note you wrote is also searchable data (as long as Evernote can read your handwriting)

As an Evernote Premium customer, my card has been scanned. I connected my LinkedIn to Evernote on my phone. So, Evernote will go out to LinkedIn to search for the profile of the person’s email address on the card. In this case it’s mine. You can see the link to my LinkedIn profile at the bottom of the screenshot. This makes it easier to connect with my new LinkedIn friend. Evernote also downloaded a profile photo from LinkedIn. You can add all saved cards to contacts on your phone by configuring this option in settings. Do you have piles of business cards? Come on, you can tell me. If you’re like most busy home business entrepreneurs, you’re most likely one short stack away from wallpapering at least one wall of your home office with them.

Business cards are a necessary tool, as I’m sure you have found with your own. The problem is when you can’t find the one you are looking for, and the stacks are covering the vast majority of your workspace. Not well.

Business card management is one of the most common questions among people looking for tips on organizing a home office. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, but before we talk about organizing your stacks, let’s first talk about what “organized” means. 1. Send them electronically

2 Have less of them

It’s much easier to organize less stuff. I’m a little excited to see some ads advertising the product as a response to the lack of enough space. By chance, I believe there is a simpler answer: reduce what you already have.
