- Wash and dry the apples.
- Then press a solid wooden stick through it.
- Pass them in the melted caramel.
- Let them set.
- Dip them in melted chocolate or cover them with chocolate chips.

How to store homemade caramelized apples?
Put them in a sealed box and store in the refrigerator. Do not store at room temperature! I personally like to take them out of the fridge and keep them on the counter for 15 minutes, then enjoy them. This is what makes them so sticky!
How long do chocolate caramelized apples last? How long can caramelized apples be kept?
Since you prick our apples with a wooden stick, I would say they only last 3 days.
How to make caramel for caramelized apples?
You need a very thick caramel and I melt the caramel instead of doing it. It’s easy and never fails. I have a homemade caramel sauce recipe but it has a thinner “syrup-like” consistency that’s not suitable for dipping these apples.

The caramelized apple is an easy to prepare and delicious dessert. It can be served as a simple but satisfying dessert.
Apples are one of the most popular and delicious fruits in the world. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavonoids and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples can help reduce the risk of cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
Eating apples helps clean both your teeth and gums. In addition, it reduces the occurrence of tooth decay. Apples are useful in treating anemia because apples are a rich source of iron. Anemia is a lack of hemoglobin in the blood that can be corrected by increasing the intake of iron, which is an integral part of red blood cell metabolism.
Try this Recipe for caramelized apples at home.
- Apple – 2 noses (thinly sliced)
- Light brown sugar – 4 tbsp
- Unsalted butter – 3 tbsp
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Salt – a pinch
Clean and cut the apple into thin slices.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add the butter. When the butter is melted, add the apple pieces and sprinkle with brown sugar, lemon juice and salt.
Cook until golden brown for about 5 minutes per side. Put out the flame.
The tasty caramelized apple is ready. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

- 6 tablespoons (3/4 sticks) of unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 2 pounds Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 2/3 cup of whipping cream
- Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat; sprinkle with sugar. Stir until the sugar begins to dissolve, about 1 minute. Add the apples. Fry until apples are brown and soft and juices are produced for about 10 minutes. Add the cream and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes. (You can prepare 3 hours in advance. Set aside at room temperature. Heat the apples over medium heat.)

Tasty! Easy and fast. I added a touch of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg & cloves. I was about to add it to a puff pastry shell, but it never got that far.
I served it on a spicy cake with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream. My guests have given great reviews !!

These delicious healthy caramel apples taste great on their own as an AIP dessert or as an addition to waffles and pancakes. It’s the perfect fall AIP recipe!
My son’s new favorite word is ‘appa’ or apple for those that don’t speak toddler. It’s the time of year where apples are bountiful at the grocery store. They always beat us when we walk into the shop and my son is heaven. Apps are everywhere! He’ll yell and scream until I load more apples in the cart.
This sweet AIP has many names; fried apples, southern apples, fried apples, but they’re all essentially the same. This version is a lot healthier than the traditional recipes because it doesn’t use loads of butter and sugar. I use coconut oil and maple syrup to be AIP compliant.
What to serve these healthy caramelized apples with? They taste great on their own, but go well with these recipes.
- A great addition to grandma’s waffles
- As an addition to the ham, pork wrapped with Brussels sprouts
- In addition to the roast pork with rosemary
- As an accompaniment to Coconut Panna Cotta
How to cook caramelized apples?
Melt the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Then add the apples to the pan.
Sauté them in a pan, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 5 minutes in total.
Add the syrup, cinnamon and salt, then lower the heat. Simmer until apples are tender, about 5 minutes.
If necessary, serve hot with coconut flakes.
Tips for making the best healthy caramelized apples
- You’ll need a large skillet or cast iron pan for this recipe. Check out my post on the best cookware for chemical-free cooking if you need help choosing the best and safest cookware.
- The recipe calls for coconut oil as coconut gives it a great flavor, however you can substitute avocado oil which has a more neutral flavor.
- This is a very simple recipe, perfect for beginners.

How to make caramelized apple pancakes
- Make the pancakes: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, water, oil, vinegar and eggs until smooth. Cook the pancakes in a hot pan. Set aside while the caramelized apples are prepared.
- Caramelize: In a large pan, melt half a teaspoon of butter with 2 teaspoons of apple juice. Place the pancake on the pan and caramelise it lightly, then fold it into quarters. Remove from the oven and put on a plate and repeat with the rest of the pancakes.
- Prepare the caramelized apples: Peel 2 apples and cut them into wedges, then cook them in the same pan with the butter, sugar and the rest of the apple juice. Cook until the sauce has reduced and the apples are tender. Return the pancakes to the pan and pour over the sauce. Serve the pancakes with a scoop of ice cream.
Can I make apple pancakes?
Pancakes can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator, covered. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. The sauce can be made up to 2 hours in advance and the pancakes can be caramelized just before serving.

To make the caramel sauce, you’ll melt caramel bits. Mix a bag full of pieces and 2 tablespoons of water in a large glass bowl. Then microwave for two minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
When the caramel is completely melted, dip each apple into the sauce until it is completely coated. And if you want to add toppings like sprinkles, chocolate sauce, or chopped nuts, place them in a separate bowl large enough for the apples to dip into.
After adding your favorite additives, refrigerate until solidified.

Caramelized apples are apples fried in sugar and butter until soft and golden. They are not, as the name suggests, related to caramelized apples.
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 large, hard apples
a pinch of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of apple juice or water

Continue cooking until the liquid has thickened.
NOTE: Be sure to use firm apples such as Braeburn, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Fuji or Gala. The softer apples flake off during cooking.
