Nonsense aside, kids love ice cream sticks. They stack them, put them together, and the latest obsession is catapults with ice cream sticks.

Today we are making a simple photo frame with an ice cream stick. The great thing about this craft is that it can be customized for any occasion. You build the frame, and your child can decorate it with egg stickers for Easter, hearts for Valentine’s Day, red and green pom-poms for Christmas, etc.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

These photo / photo frames have been fun creations for most ages and are also great gifts for others. They are not difficult to make, but they still look great on the show! You can make them in any way (colors, decorations, etc.) according to your taste. I hope you enjoy creating this manual and then showing it or giving it away.

    Step 1: consumables

    First collect:
-15 ice cream sticks (or 16 if you choose the alternative way to create it)
    -glue (I used liquid glue)
    – (optional) aluminum foil
    -shears
    – pencil / pen / writing utensils
    -(line)
    -Your photo / photo
    – paper / cardstock (colored paper) (A little; D)
    -i your hands
(It may sound like a lot, but you don’t really need all of that, like a ruler, whatever you think is cool is fine)

    Step 2:

Place the 11 ice cream sticks next to each other from left to right. (not one on top of the other)
(Covering them with duct tape can help when you’re working with younger children or for your own good, which you can remove later.)

    Step 3:

Then draw a line of glue on the far left (first) ice cream stick and on the last (right) ice cream stick.
Now place two more ice cream sticks on the wet glue.
Let it dry while you cut the next piece.

    Step 4: tinfoil (optional step)

Take a piece of aluminum foil, enough to wrap around both sides of the rectangle. (Each inch) Wrap it and insert it where two ice cream sticks stick and seal it with glue.

Step 5: Bottom of the frame

Now you need to cut a little. First, place the ice cream stick on the bottom and mark where it overlaps the other to make it stick. Make sure the cut marks allow the stick to fit to make sure the three sticks are level. Now cut out these marks.
Now it would be if you wrap the tinfoil around the stick if you decide and then seal it with glue.

    Step 6:

Now, as you can see in the last image, draw some glue on the bottom of the bezel where it is suggested that the bottom stick should go. Now he places the cut stick on the glue.
(Or in other words, position the frame as shown in the image, then slide the stick I hold in my hand on the left side into place.)
If you try to skip the cut and just stick a stick, when you try to insert a photo into the frame, it will fall off.

    Step 7: Complete the piece

Wrap the last ice cream stick in aluminum foil if you wrapped it and seal it with glue.
Just stick the last stick on top.

    Step 8: corners

Then cut out two squares of paper that measure approximately 4cm by 4cm. Now cut each of them diagonally to get a total of 4 triangles.
If you have made up your mind, wrap these pieces in aluminum foil and seal them with glue.
Glue each triangle to the corner as shown. They will help keep your photo framed and won’t fall off.
An alternative way to make horns is to cut more ice cream to size and then glue them together. but it’s too hard for me because my fingers hurt to cut it. (Thanks to safety scissors) I’ve never tried this, so I’m not sure what it’s going to be like.

Step 9: decorate further (optional step)

The last thing you can do is decorate the frame more like glitter. Customize and customize!
Also, if you feel the frame is not well supported, you can easily attach another ice cream stick to hold it together, or leave the tape from the previous one or add some masking tape if you wish.

    Step 10: Add a Photo!

You are now done with your photo frame! That’s all. almost. Now add just one photo!
Insert your photo from above. You may need to crop the photo / photo a bit to fit.
I hope you enjoy (ed) creating this project / manual, thanks for checking it out. Have fun!

This is one of those projects that requires little time and effort, but a lot of imagination. It’s not like these popsicle stick picture frames are really a new idea. I mean, you’ve seen ice cream stick frames before, even though it was in your childhood. But now you will be able to complete this easy kids’ craft picture frame knowing that you have everything that you need in your bag.

If that helps, keep some frames (do step 1) all prepped and ready in a bag to decorate when the urge arises. It’s the kind of thing that you can be doing while dinner is in the oven or when your child is whining about how bored they are when school is out of session and you just need to grab something quickly (along with maybe a little of your own wine).

After it is completed, the creativity continues, as you will be able to fill it with photos, drawings, paintings, poems, quotes, etc. I know that you will truly enjoy making these easy kids’ craft picture frames and find that the time you have spent crafting together is quality time. (Have you ever noticed how talkative kids are when they have something in their hands? They really open up, kids too.) Keep the picture frame and put it in a pride of place in your home or give it to someone special. Hey, this might even make a great Father’s Day or Mother’s Day gift!

    DELIVERY BY BAGS

    • Wide ice cream sticks (4 per frame)
    • Elmer’s glue
    • Stapler with staples
    • Pipe cleaner
    • Glue stick
    • Everything else in the bag (yes, everything!)

**If you are new here and haven’t learned about “the bag” of goodies that you should keep on hand, click on the link above or go to the “fill your bag” page to learn how this site is about to change your life…no, really. You will never be a parent of the same. Be prepared to spend more time with the kids. Fill your bag and create with each design on this page without missing an “ingredient”. Because EVERY project on this page is made up of the SAME master list!

    Step 1

    • Form a square with 4 sticks of ice cream
    • Secure the corners with a dot of Elmer’s glue
    • Let the glue dry

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    Step 2 (optional)

    • Cut a piece of pipe cleaner about 3 inches long
    • Fold the pipe cleaner into the bend
    • Secure the top of the frame, on the back, with a staple or a large drop of glue (wait for the glue to dry)

    Step 3

    • Decorate the frame with any items you like in the bag

There is no wrong way to do this. I can’t say this loud enough. You can create one that looks like my photo, but really, where’s the fun? Stop going crazy. Swirl with pipe cleaners and let them out of the frame, or paint the artwork or pull the cotton balls to make them blurry and stick them in place to make the frame soft and puffy or go crazy with tissue paper or, well, you understood. Dive into the bag and take out what makes you happy.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

“Never help a child with a task where he feels he can be successful.” – Maria Montessori. I love this quote because she reminds us that children are much more gifted than we usually attribute to them. It’s true that they don’t think like adults and have their own way of doing things…AND THAT IS AMAZING.

Let them be children, let them find out, let them understand. Don’t give them the answers. Let them struggle a little and then create something that is absolutely and truly theirs. It is a magical thing. As my mentor Ruth Soukup would say, the rules are for losers. Sometimes it’s nice to push boundaries, question the rules and see where it takes us.

And be sure to encourage your kids along the way! Wondering what to say even if your child is struggling a bit? Try these words of encouragement …

    BONUS

Create a photo frame out of ice cream sticks by folding the paper plate in half and cutting out a triangular shape. Now cut a part of the triangle so that there is a notch at the bottom. Cut off the tip of the triangle (if necessary). Decorate the stand as you wish.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    1 Choose a frame shape.

Arrange the craft plywood to create a frame. Here are some examples of how to fold the sticks:

a.) Basic square frame– make four craft sticks to form a square.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

b.) Wide square frame– Put two craft sticks on each side to form a square.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

c.) Non-standard shaped frame – think of an interesting project. If you need shorter pieces, cut some sticks. Combine long and short pieces to get the design you have in mind. Make sure the section is large enough to place the photo.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    2 Paint the craft sticks.

After choosing the shape of the frame, paint the craft sticks. You can use one color for the entire frame, or you can color each craft stick differently for a multi-colored frame.

If it works best, you can paint the frame after all of the craft plywood has been glued together.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    3 Glue the craft plywood.

Once the paint dries, arrange the painted craft sticks into the shape or design that you chose in Step 1. Glue them together at the ends using white glue or a glue gun.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    4 Decorate the frame.

Decorate your photo frame as you like. You can paint patterns or small patterns on it; stick sequins, buttons, paper, fabric or felt on some cutouts; or draw some patterns with soft paint or glitter glue.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

5 Trace the outline of the frame.

Create a backing board by tracing the outer outline of the stick frame on the cardboard.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    6 Draw a smaller square.

Draw a slightly smaller square inside the outline. The idea is to make a support board slightly smaller than the frame with the craft stick.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    7 Cut the cardboard.

Cut the cardboard along the inside outline.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    8 Attach the pad.

Attach this board to the back of the craft stick frame.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    9 Place the photo.

Cut the photo to the size that fits the frame. Attach the photo in the center of the frame.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    10 Use a frame.

There are several ways to use the frame:

    • Lean against the wall – place the structure on a table or shelf, near the back wall. Let it rest against the wall.
    • Create a stand – cut out a rectangular support from thick cardboard. Fold about an inch on one short side to create an overlap. Attach this tab to the back of the frame.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    • Attach the magnets– make a magnetic photo frame by sticking 1 or 2 small magnets on the back of the frame with a glue gun.
    • Hang on a rope – Cut a piece of string. Glue or glue the ends to the top corners of the frame.

    More ideas

A great idea for younger children.

Younger children can enjoy decorating their frames with large, colorful materials such as buttons, pompoms, paper and foam scraps, large plastic gems and so on.

However, remember that these materials are still small enough to be considered a choking hazard. Adult supervision is essential.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    Use natural materials.

Use natural materials such as dried flowers, twigs, shells and sand to create a beautiful photo frame.

Leave the stick frame unpainted if you intend to cover the entire frame with decorative materials or if the wooden surface of the stick is to be part of the design.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

    Add minimal touches.

It is not always necessary to fill the entire frame with decorations. The accent on one corner of the frame can be just as fascinating.

    Give.

A handmade photo frame is a wonderful gift for Dad on Father’s Day or for Mom on Mother’s Day. When decorating your picture frame, look for inspiration in things mom / dad loves, like hobbies, favorite TV shows, sports, and even your favorite colors. Don’t forget the most important thing: the photo of you and your parents in the center of the frame!

Photo frame with popsicle sticks or craft sticks

Here’s a great way to use any craft sticks or ice cream sticks you’ve saved – make a beautiful photo frame or photo frame for your mom.

    by Twila Lenoir

It makes a great homemade gift for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day, or any day you want to show your mom how special she is and how much you love her.

    Craft Supplies:

17 ice cream sticks or craft sticks
paint or silver or gold color of your choice
clear plastic to cover the photo
hot glue gun and glue sticks (use only with adult assistance)
    craft glue

    Instructions for the craft project:

    1. Attach two ice cream sticks together. Repeat three more times to glue four sets of two ice cream sticks together. Each of them will be one side of your photo frame.

    2. Use a photo of our frame as a guide and attach your four sets to the frame. We put the right and left sides on the table, then glue the upper and lower frames on them.

    3. Use white glue or craft glueto draw squiggle lines on all sides except the back of the frame. Let the frame dry well.

    4. Now you may need an adult to do the design in the upper corners. We cut three pieces of ice cream stick for each corner and glued them in an “X” shape, then glued another piece on top.

If you prefer, you can leave the corners empty until they are painted, then stick on flat glass marble, shells or a piece of sea glass, or maybe pretty buttons or small flowers.

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

Pin 5. Paint the entire frame with silver or gold paint, including the glue wrap.

    6. To raise the frame, we glued together 7 sticks of ice cream, one on the bottom to hold it in place. You will need to ask an adult to help you attach the frame to the side of the stand with hot glue. Paint the grid the same color as the frame and let it dry.

    8. Cut clear plastic to fit the frame size and glue it to the back of the frame. Cut a piece of cardboard of the same size and glue it to the back of the plastic on all three sides, but not on the top.

    9. Cut your photo and slide it between the plastic and cardboard.

    10. Give your mom a big smile!

This craft is really simple and doesn’t take time! Here are some materials you will need:

    • Jumbo Craft Sticks – basic colors
    • Hinged clip
    • Sticky glue
    • Magnetic tape
    • Stickers for school
    • Cardboard
    • Photo del primo giorno di scuola

How to make a popsicle stick picture frame

Start by sticking six jumbo sticks onto a piece of cardboard that measures 4 inches by 5 inches. I used sticky glue for this, but you can also use a hot glue gun. The side of the cardboard will be the back of the frame.

On the front of the frame, place the hinge clip and photo in the desired location. Attach the hinge clip with adhesive glue. I cut out my photo and also pasted it on a piece of cardboard. It’s not necessary, but I love the way the photo is taken.

Then put a sticker or other desired ornament on the frame. The stickers I used came from Michael’s and were by Recollections. When the front of the frame is ready, add the magnetic tape to the back if you want to put it on the fridge or magnetic board.
