Wow, that was really cool!

I only knew about the top three dogs that you can follow as soon as you start running. It’s been so long since I’ve been following the personal trainer that I didn’t realize there were extra dogs by the bridge. I though both the beach & cliff runs were pretty good.

Treadmill vs. Run out

Wii Fit is an interactive video game that helps you do cardio, strength training, yoga and balance exercises. To use Wii Fit for running, you just need to put the remote in your pocket while you run. A matching TV screen shows your path around bustling Wuhu Island as you greet Mia’s characters as they pass. Jogging in a Wii venue is a good starting point for fitness, but it is very different from running outdoors.

Burn calories

Running helps you burn calories, which helps control weight. In a 2009 study sponsored by the American Council on Exercise, researchers found that running with the Wii Fit burns about 5.5 calories per minute. If you weigh 155 pounds and run out at a modest speed of 5 miles per hour, you burn nearly twice per minute. Therefore, to get the same calorie-burning effect on the Wii, you’ll need to run inside for about twice as long.

The intensity of muscle activation

Susan Paul, running coach and exercise physiologist, explains that running outdoors requires more muscle and connective tissue than running on a Wii station. When running outdoors, push off the ground to move forward, activating the muscles in your hips, calves and legs. These muscles are activated when running in the Wii Position, but not as intensely. You can try placing your Wii in a large room and running back and forth to mimic the forward motion you experience outdoors, but you will never be able to reach full pace or steady speed unless you steer. towards a track or path.

Wind resistance

When you run with your Wii, you have no resistance to the outside, which increases the intensity of your run. Running coach Greg McMillan notes that a way needs to be found to spend about 7% more energy on the treadmill to compensate for the amount of energy used to overcome air resistance. The treadmill has a 1% incline to compensate for the lack of indoor wind resistance. However, with Wii Fit, there is no practical method to simulate wind resistance. So running outdoors requires more effort – 7% more – than running with Wii Fit, simply because of the wind.

In the 2011 issue of Environmental Science and Technology, a meta-analysis by University of Exeter researchers found that outdoor exercise correlates with positive moods, including reduced feelings of tension, anger, and depression. Compared to those who train indoors, those who train outdoors have also experienced a greater charge of energy and a greater sense of pleasure and satisfaction from exercising. While scientists aren’t sure what mechanisms make outdoor exercise more enjoyable and rewarding, Alan Fogel, professor of psychology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, speculates that outdoor exercise may bring back memories of childhood play. He also makes you feel more in tune with nature and as if you are part of the community. Your senses are stimulated, which strengthens your connection with yourself. If your schedule or environmental conditions make your Wii Fit jogging session more comfortable, it’s still better than lying on the sofa; but it seems that you will get the most benefit when you run or walk as much as possible in the fresh air.

How to jog on wii fit

“For too long, video game consoles have been limited to fun and entertainment. But with Wii Fit, the possibilities are endless. ”This opens up the video parody made by YouTube user SARCASTICGAMER. I recently came across this parody in Nintendo Wii Fit commercials and had to share it! Wii Fit or don’t understand what it is, I think anyone can appreciate the humor in this movie. But joking aside, I think they bring some important points that may answer the question: Does Wii Fit count as exercise?

If you are having trouble viewing the video below, click here to view it on YouTube.

Here are some of the most important points that I wanted to highlight and discuss.

“You’ll love the side tilt with Nintendo’s Wii Fit. And don’t lose your pace.
I agree that there is a lot of space when it comes to using Wii Fit. Even when I reviewed Jillian Michaels’s Fitness Ultimatum game, I was surprised to see that you were literally standing on the scale without lifting any feet to “run” in the game. I found it a bit strange. Why not run and even walk in place? Running on Wii Fit is clearly not the same as running in real life. However, drills like boxing on the Wii require more practice and simulate real things in a fun and breathtaking way.

"Il Wii Fit ha il perfetto equilibrio tra muoversi a malapena e fare cose banali."
I laughed a lot about that line. No one else finds it funny that pushups in real life are hard, boring and real work, but pushups on Wii Fit are suddenly meant to be more fun? For example, if push-ups on Wii Fit is the only way to push-ups, I don’t see any problem with that. But if you thought you’d have fun making them by looking at the virtual trainer on the screen, you might be surprised to find that on Wii Fit they are as boring and tough as they are in real life.

"Invece di dire ai bambini di uscire e giocare per fare esercizio, perché non stare davanti alla TV?"
While I am aware that not all children are athletes and that many children live in dangerous neighborhoods where they cannot play outdoors, I must admit that playing outdoors is much more fun and beneficial than pretending to be a soccer ball and a hula. look indoors. While I strongly believe that children are better off playing Wii Fit than traditional sedentary video games – after all, any physical activity is more beneficial than standing still – it is no substitute for actual sport and recreation.

“Standing still in one place has never been more fun than with Nintendo’s Wii Fit. Find out today why people around the world think about exercising with that little white thing you stand on. It’s easy. I don’t have to do anything. “
OK, here comes the cold, hard truth. In my professional opinion, most (but not all) Wii Fit games and “exercises” are not a good substitute for traditional workouts. However, se il tuo allenamento Wii Fit conta come "esercizio" o meno dipende da tre fattori: quanto duro lavori, per quanto tempo mantieni quel livello di intensità e quanto sei già in forma.

The important thing you need to distinguish is the difference between “being active” and “exercising”, which many people often confuse. These are two separate things. Not all “activities” count as an exercise. For example, you are “active” when you play mini golf, wash your car, walk up the stairs to your office and, in my opinion, play Wii Fit games. Tutte queste attività ti aiuteranno a raggiungere uno stile di vita attivo e a bruciare più calorie rispetto a uno stile di vita sedentario. But they will not take the place of the exercises.

The training guidelines are very detailed. For something to qualify as cardio, you need to raise your heart rate to a certain level, keep it there for at least 5-10 minutes and use your large muscle groups in a rhythmic manner such as running, walking, dancing or swimming. All three of these factors must be present for something to be considered cardio, for example. This means that things like Wii boxing can matter if you work hard enough and hold that intensity long enough. But other things, like the Wii hula hoop, don’t (they don’t cover major muscle groups and may not raise your heart rate enough).

There are also specific guidelines for strength training, such as doing enough repetitions to achieve muscle fatigue, performing various exercises, and continuing to progress (increase) the level of resistance. While Wii Fit allows you to make some progress, there comes a point where you reach the highest level offered and no longer reap the benefits of doing the same set of exercises.

Many Wii Fit exercises are not doneAllthese guidelines forAll people. I said it! But before you get upset, remember what I said above: It depends on how hard YOU work, and yes, All physical activity is beneficial, even if it doesn’t fit the standard definition of exercise. I’m going to continue to review new Wii Fit games as well, because I think they’re All a little different in terms of intensity and variety. Some offer more workout options than others, and my mission is to find the best Wii Fit workout!

What do you think? Do you think Wii Fit offers a good workout or is it just fun and games? Did you find humor in this movie like I did?

If phenomenal saleWii Fit told us one thing, it’s that there’s a lot of scope for health and fitness products in the games market right now. but the folks at Nintendo aren’t alone in their quest to promote healthy gaming. New Concept Gaming (NCG) is dedicated to developing innovative products that bridge the gap between gaming and fitness by trying to combine the best of both. Its latest peripheral – jOG for Nintendo Wii – is a unique in-game motion sensor that takes the player’s movement and translates it to the characters’ action on screen. Digital spycaught up with NCG CEO Brendan Ludden to find out more.

When and how did you come up with the idea of a yoga accessory?
“I was thinking about a lot of ideas for game control, including running on the spot, as far back as 1997, but only when I set up New Concept Gaming with some friends did I have the right conditions to reAlly start turning ideas into reality. jOG itself was originAlly part of a control system that tracked a wide range of body motion. But one day I was testing it with a standard game controller and was amazed at how much fun it was on its own. I cAlled one of the other co-founders who came round straight away, tried it and agreed. I think at that moment we knew we had something special.”

The Nintendo Wii appears to be the perfect platform for such a peripheral. How far have you waited for technology to achieve what you imagined?
“jOG works reAlly well as a peripheral for use with the Nintendo Wii simply because the Wii in most cases has already got people used the idea of standing up and engaging more actively with video games. But in any other sense, we didn’t need to wait for technology to catch up – jOG works as a principle with pretty much any console past or present!”

We noticed that the device was also developed for PlayStation 2. How did you think it was going?
“We reAlly released the PS2 version in very limited quantities to test the water. Sadly there’s not much demand for new products for PS2, so the focus is on jOG compatibility with Wii at this point. The PS2 is a great console with hundreds of excellent jOG compatible games, but most people are looking to buy new peripherals for their latest console.”

Are you planning to introduce JOG or similar devices on other platforms like PS3 or Xbox 360? How is the approach different than the Wii?
"Obviously, there are some practical and commercial problems in bringing new versions of JOG to market on other platforms and the approach is different as each platform works better with certain types of games. So yes, and without saying too much, I can say that we have some pretty cool new products in the pipeline. But at the moment our goal is to make JOG compatible with Wii, which could be the biggest hit. "

Who is JOG’s target audience?
“Gamers – All of them. Obviously people with certain conditions should check with their doctor before using jOG (just as they would with other physical activity), but apart from that, it’s great fun for the entire family! If like me you enjoy the adrenaline-packed, heart-thumping first-person-shooter experience then playing a game at pace with jOG is amazing. Our first jOG development prototype was Xbox compatible and I played the whole of Alonez tym!"

What kind of expectations do you have for it commerciAlly and criticAlly?
“The critics are there to look at the product technicAlly, and we’re very happy with the feedback we’re getting so far. The commercial success depends on how gamers take to it, and again we’re reAlly happy with the reactions of consumers. Kids in particular seem to love it – they’re much less self conscious about physical activity than adults – but I guess it’s like Guitar hero. It may seem a little silly at first, but once you get into it, it becomes a lot of fun. We All use jOG at home when we’re playing games.”

Do you think these kinds of peripherals are the future of games or are they just for health lovers?
“We believe the trend towards more active play will continue to gain momentum and expect to be at the forefront of this market. It’s not just health, it’s part of the broader sense of well-being we get from being active. jogging is fun. “

The device was presented at CES and the Toy Fair 2009. What feedback did you receive during these events?
"Niesamowite. Podpisaliśmy kontrakty z dystrybutorami, przyjmowaliśmy zamówienia, poznaliśmy wielu nowych przyjaciół. Gadget Show wybrało nas na nowy gadżet numer jeden Targów Zabawek 2009 – który wywołał uśmiech na naszych twarzach!"

New Feature Unlocked in Wii Fit Running: Free Run!

Today I was going to blog about Wii Fit Strength Training, but I just unlocked a feature I needed to tell you about:

The Wii Fit running game is included in the Aerobics category. After so many activities, new ones are opening up.

Free Run allows you to change channels on your TV while you are still playing Wii Fit Running! Yes, that’s right-you can literAlly watch your favorite TV shows while running in place in your living room.

All, co musisz zrobić, to umieścić pilota Wii w kieszeni lub po prostu trzymać go w prawej ręce.

You will hear the sounds of your will flowing through the Wii Remote and hear them as you speed up or slow down (just as you watched it on screen). You will occasionAlly hear a voice through the Wii remote telling you to keep a steady pace, or that you’re keeping a nice pace. The voice will also let you know when it’s been five minutes, and then at two minutes, one minute, and then down to ten seconds, etc.

The voice is not very loud so you can’t hear the TV.

Tired of running on the spot? I also got tired of running in place. Aren’t you tired of running, just … bored? However, I went back to my high school days of playing tennis, and remembered All of the exercises we’d do on the court. For example, we were doing exercises like running back and forth on the court, side to side, rolling, etc.

It’s made a huge difference, and I feel like I am more apt to do another run or a longer run if I vary my routine. Sometimes I run in place and sometimes my living room turns into a mini tennis court. I can almost imagine All of the lines on the court that I spent many times running back and forth, back and forth.

Sometimes I love watching the Mii’s running through the beautiful scenery, along with the cute dogs. Other times, after the Wii music has been playing through my head All day, I can simply watch a favorite TV program and still get the benefits of the Wii running game.

Coming soon to WiiScoop:

I’ll be blogging about the Wii Fit Strength Training exercises, along with one of my favorite games: Wii Sports! !

This is a guest post by Grant Mitchell, author of TheOTpreneur. com. Grant currently works in Acute Rehab and completed his Master’s thesis on using the Wii as a rehab intervention. We are happy to have it on the My OT Spot blog!

Given the rising costs of health care, consumer technology can often be an effective treatment option that can serve as a home exercise program. An example of consumer technology could include a Nintendo Wii + Sports which can be usuAlly be purchased for less than $50. Given the lack of budget most every practitioner has to deal with, it’s a great opportunity to take advantage of low cost and high tech consumer products for rehabilitation.

The successful implementation of virtual reality (VR) as a treatment method must be practical, accessible and convenient for the client. Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect are two examples of systems that exhibit these characteristics compared to high-end VR products that can cost up to $ 75,000.

Virtual reality can be used in many ways in different contexts. Xbox Kinect and Nintendo Wii consoles have different ways to engage attendees. While the Xbox Kinect doesn’t involve use of a controller, it is played by body motions alone. Xbox Kinect is easier when the population is performing better.

Conversely, the Wii system involves the use of a controller and includes games that can be modified to fit a variety of lower functioning populations both cognitively and physicAlly. This article is about the use of the Wii in the general physically disabled population. Cognition is part of the functions of clients in an environment of physical disability and will therefore be discussed.

Benefits of using the Wii for healing

One of the valuable aspects of incorporating this type of technology into therapy is that it is often a technology known to the general public. Its availability goes beyond clinical conditions. Shared households, including those in the low socioeconomic bracket, may have access to the Nintendo Wii system.

Even adults that have not used a Wii before, can often recAll family or friends who might have one or use one. Let’s not forget, video games can be fun! Adding fun can be an effective way to make a business purposeful and meaningful.

One of the benefits of engaging in a therapeutic activity such as the games available on Wii Sports is goal-based movement which keeps patients focused on moving the virtual character rather than thinking left, right, up and down. In this way, the client receives immediate visual feedback on his actions as he directs the virtual character (Sparkes-Griffin, 2013).

Wii sports games to be incorporated into the treatment

Wii Sports is the most popular game as it is available on most Wii consoles. Wii Sports comes with five games: boxing, bowling, tennis, golf, and basebAll. Below is a brief overview of Wii Sports games and how they can be incorporated into the treatment.

How to jog on wii fit

Box: This activity is a strenuous activity on the upper limbs. Boxing is a game of the Wii due to the level of stamina it allows. This game can be completed with one arm or it can involve bilateral arms to increase the need for coordination. This activity is one of the least cognitively demanding, as it involves repetitive back and forth movements (beats) without pressing any buttons.

Bowling: The arm movement in this game is similar to that of real sports, but it can be performed from almost any position. The movement does not deviate much from the center line, but includes a snap and release element with two buttons that increase the need for motor planning. This can be difficult if hand function is minimal, but it’s okay if you want to enable fine and coarse motor planning.

Tennis: This game does not require you to press any buttons while playing, just to start and resume. However, tennis involves the most complex upper extremity arm movements of the 5 Wii sports games. AdditionAlly, with either a computer or an opponent (dual play involves a split-screen and can involve family or friends if available), this game is a higher functioning game requiring the player to motor plan and swing the controller according to the direction of the virtual tennis bAll.

Golf & BasebAll: The two games are similar in that minimal rocking motion is a basic physical requirement to play. The movement can be accomplished with a good wrist flick, and generAlly requires a purposeful exaggerated real life swing to get therapeutic benefits. To get significant therapeutic benefit, these activities will often have to be modified to increase the chAllenge.

Editing of games

Basic related: The Wii player is moved by the controller; therefore, the actual location of the customer may differ. In the event of an imbalance, the therapist can stand behind the client or have a chair available when the client is tired. All games can be completed standing or sitting. Commonly used in rehabilitation rooms, the high and low mats provide an excellent treatment platform during the Wii activity. AdditionAlly, clients can participate while sitting on a balance board for a greater chAllenge.

Relating to the upper limbs: Boxing is the only game in Wii sports that can involve both hands with two controllers. However, boxing does Allow the option of playing with only one controller. For an added chAllenge, weights, such as Velcro wrist weights can be utilized to increase the resistance. Note that due to the design of the game system, customers can “cheat” on the movement, which means using a small amount of ROM and compensating for arm movements with wrist movements. If, as a therapist, you want a good move, you may need to report it as the Wii provides little feedback.
