How to install windows vista

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) contains all updates since the release of SP1.

How to get SP2?

The recommended (and easiest) way to get SP2 is to turn on automatic update on Windows Update in the Control Panel and wait for Windows Vista to inform you that it is ready to install SP2. It only takes a few clicks to start the installation and the rest of the process is automatic.

To install SP2, you must first have Windows Vista Service Pack 1 installed.

To find out if SP2 is already installed

Click here the Start button, right-click Computer, and then click Real estate.

If Service Pack 2 is listed in the Windows edition section, SP2 is already installed on your computer and you don’t need to follow the instructions below.

Before installing SP2, it is recommended that you do the following:

Log on to the computer using an administrator account, make sure all other users are logged off the computer, and close all open programs.

Back up important files to an external location such as an external hard drive, DVD or CD drive, or USB flash drive.

If you are using a laptop, plug it into an AC outlet and do not unplug or restart the computer during installation.

If necessary, update all device drivers. You can do this using Windows Update or by visiting the device manufacturer’s website.

If an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is connected to the computer, disconnect the serial interface cable before installing SP2. The installation automatically attempts to detect devices connected to the serial ports and UPS equipment may cause problems with the discovery process. You can leave the computer connected to a UPS for power.

Some antivirus software can prevent SP2 from installing or slow down the installation. You can try to temporarily disable your antivirus software. If so, make sure you are aware of the risks and enable it after installing the service pack.

Make sure you have enough free disk space to install SP2 (even if a significant amount of that space will be reclaimed after installation).

Approximate free disk space is required

x64: 863 MB

x86: 1.8GB to 3GB

x64: 3.2GB to 5GB

Getting started: Install Windows Vista directly from your hard drive – No. O DVD or USB needed!

How to install windows vista

HOW TO CLEANo. Install Windows Vista directly from your hard drive – No. O DVD or USB needed !!

For example, you have a netbookodesktop that you want to install Windows Vista onto, but can’t use DVDoUSB for whatever reason (or don’t want to, like me). This method will allow you to boot and install Windows directly from your hard drive. This guide covers connecting the hard drive to another working computer, preparing the hard drive, rebooting into the system, and installing Windows as usual.

This guide is for Windows Vista only, although the guide for Windows 7 and 8 is very similar. Check out my guide to Windows 7 and Windows 8, if that’s the case for you.

Step 1: Prepare the hard drive with the Windows Vista installation files.

– Connect the hard drive to another working computer.
– Format your hard drive to No. TFS (quick format works fine; multi-partition works too).
– Copy the following items from a Windows Vista or ISO disc:

-Start
– Sources
-Why otmgr

Step 2: Make the HD bootable

In Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 open CMD as administrator (Windows key + R, type CMD, press Enter)

Enter the following commands (replace X with what is applicable to your hard drive):

aloof
disc list
select drive X
partition list
select partition X
active
Exit
X: carry out sect. exe / nt60 X:

(See photos for example)

Get out and shut up.

No. te: If you’re working on a 32-bit system, and you want to install 64-bit Windows, you may get problems trying to run the last command (X: carry out sect. exe / nt60 X:).
Solutions:

Use a computer with a 64-bit version of Windows

A little trick that worked for me: if you have a 32-bit Windows Vista disk, you can copy run sect. exe with this and replace the 64 bit (run run sect. exe).

Step 3: Start and Install Windows

Reseat the hard drive on the target computer. Make sure the BIOS is configured to boot from the hard drive. If you’ve done everything correctly, you should see the “Windows is loading files” screen and the installation will load (also very fast as it loads from your hard drive).

This step is extremely important.Se salti questo passaggio, riceverai l’errore "Manca un driver CD / DVD richiesto".
When the “Windows is Loading Files” screen appears, hold down the left CTRL button. This will force repair of the command line console. (See photos for example) When it appears, type the following command:

del C: run bcd
bcdedit / creastore
C: Source settings

Install Windows as usual (but don’t format the drive in the installer this time, or it will delete the Windows Vista installation files too!).

Step 4: final steps / cleaning

Delete the ‘Sources’ folder and “Windows. old “(if present) from the root of the hard drive (this will free up 2-3 GB).

Hope this helps some. Feel free to comment 🙂

How to install windows vista

. I can’t find – sources and – start the MSc. some advice?

How to install windows vista

It didn’t work the first time I tried it, but I repeated the process and it worked the second time. My original DVD was scratched and all efforts to create a new DVD failed as all the DVD-Rs I purchased were out of date and could not be written to. It looks like this is going to be an ongoing problem as DVDs and CDs are just an old hat. I also tried installing from USB but it didn’t work so that was my last option!

How to install windows vista

Thanks for this tutorial, you helped me a lot.

I was unable to open the CMD prompt by holding the CTRL key, what I did was run the installation until I got the error “A required CD / DVD driver is missing”. So I pressed SHIFT + F10 which opened CMD, after opening CMD I closed the installation and went back to the main windows installer screen before removing bcd and following the rest of the guide. this may be useful for some people.

And if you never received a recovery drive when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery partition on your hard drive to reinstall Windows the way you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be initiated by pressing a certain key or combination of keys during startup. (activation / commissioning)

It can be F10, F11, Alt + F10 etc. Depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them or us for the correct keystroke.

Acer: Press Alt + F10.

HP: Press the F11 key at a rate of approximately once per second.

And if you have a manufacturer recovery partition on your hard drive, you should be able to create your own recovery discs from it to reinstall your operating system.

Look under Programs > your Computer Manufacturer’s name > then their System ToolsoRecovery Software Headings for them, depending how it is worded.

If you can’t find any references to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to run these recovery discs.

You can borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD (retail or OEM System Builders License) that contains files for various Vista editions (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate) for installation. The product key in the PC / laptop case determines which version is installed.

The COA sticker showing the product key is located on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery compartment.

On a desktop computer, this is located on the side, back, or top of the computer case.

Third party recovery DVDs should not be used for these purposes.

This step-by-step guide shows you how to install Windows Vista.

The best way to install Windows Vista is to perform a clean installation. It is not difficult to perform a clean installation. Before proceeding with the installation, I recommend that you check the list of Windows Vista system requirements to make sure your hardware is supported by Vista. If you don’t have Windows Vista drivers for all your hardware, it is a good idea to download all the drivers from the hardware manufacturers website and save all the necessary drivers on a CD-R before you start the installation.

The Windows Vista DVD is bootable. To boot from a DVD, you need to set the boot sequence. Look for the boot sequence in the BIOS setup and make sure the first boot device is set to CD-ROM / DVD-ROM.

Step 1 – Insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD-ROM drive and start the computer. Windows Vista will start and the following progress bar will be displayed.

Step 2 – The next screen allows you to set the language, time and currency format, keyboard or input method. Select the required settings and click No. ext to continue.

Step 3 – The next screen allows you to install or repair Windows Vista. While we are performing a new installation, we will click on “install now”.

Step 4– You can now enter the product key that came with Windows Vista.

Step 5 – If you do not enter the product key, you can still proceed with the installation, in which case Windows will ask you which version of Vista you purchased. Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business etc. Select the version you purchased and click No. ext.

No. ote, although you can choose any version of Windows and go to the next step. It is not a good idea to choose a different version than the one you purchased as you will not be able to activate Windows later. Windows Vista can detect the purchased version after entering the product key.

Step 6– Seleziona "Accetto i termini della licenza" e fai clic su Avanti.

I need to install Windows 10 on my Vista computer. I bought Windows 10 USB and downloaded Win10_1511_english_x64.iso but my Vista PC won’t open it to run it.

Can anyone give me step by step how to complete the process?

You say in the OP that you bought the USB and downloaded the ISO. You will need to create a bootable USB flash drive yourself if you did not receive the USB flash drive as part of your purchase.

My brother recently had to replace the hard drives in his ThinkPad. Seeing as his fancy IBM doesn’t have a disc drive, he needed to figure out a different way of installing Vista on the machine after the swap. No. ow, like most of us, he has seen many articles stating that Vista can be installed from a USB drive, so he decided to give it a try. To start off with he found the instructions on Kurt Shintaku’s blog but it turned out they were not entirely applicable.

What the many people who cite this method don’t say is that you have to have a computer with Vista already installed to follow the procedure. How come? Because aloof it works differently in Vista and XP. For one thing you can’t use aloofformat disks in XP.

He formatted the drive to FAT32 as indicated, but for what he describes as “eternity” he received only error messages: this is not a system drive, there is a disk error etc. So he tried to format it to No. TFS. But that just resulted in new error messages such as “Can’t find No. TLDR” (No. TLDR being the start file for No. TFS file systems).

Then, after years of experimentation (if we are to believe it took it all …eternityto find that something is wrong) with other partitioning software, found a working algorithm:

Before it starts

  1. The root partition of the USB drive must be active
  2. you need to copy the contents of the Vista installation disc to a USB drive
  3. you need to make sure the boot sector of the USB drive is correct, here’s how I did it:
  1. Go to the hardware properties of the USB drive:My computer -> right click the USB pendrive -> select Real estate -> select Hardware -> select the correct drive -> select Real estate again -> select Rules -> select Performance optimization(This is to format it with No. TFS, so strictly speaking it’s not necessary, it just worked. If you do, you have to remember to always useSafe ejection on this disc. If you don’t you might corrupt some files.)
  2. Open the command prompt and type the following command (commands inbold italics)
    1. aloof
    2. disc list
    3. find the disk you want, then type:select disk n.(so if it’s disk 1, typedisk 1)
    4. cleaned up
    5. create a primary partition
    6. select partition 1
    7. active
    8. to assign
    9. Exit

This should delete everything on the USB pendrive and then make a new partition without a file system on it.

  3. Find out what drive letter your USB pendrive has (you find out by looking for it in My Compuber). Still at the command prompt, type: format f: / fs: ntfs
It will ask you for confirmation and then your name.
  4. No. w that you have a cleaned up USB pendrive it’s time to fill it. Find the Vista installation disc and see what the drive letter is. in my example it’s d:so, still in Command Prompt gender:xcopy d: *. * / s / e / f / p / h / xf: (where f: is your drive letter for the USB pendrive). There are probably 3 slashes more than stricty necesary, but it’s nice to stay on the safe side. / s / e / fshould copy all files and subfolders when/ p / h / xshould keep ownership rights and copy all hidden files.
  5. Here’s the fun part; Make the USB pendrive Startable into Vista Install.
There is a folder on the called View unitStart. Copy this folder to your hard drive (and remember where you put it). Using the command prompt, find this folder and
gender:Startsect /nt60 f:It’s very important that you are carefull with this command since it can change the Startsector on all drives on the computer if you manage to screw it up. For security reasons, you can simply write:StartsectoStartsect /helpfirst time and understand what you are doing. If you’re too lazy, here’s a quick explanation: Becauseotsect is a small program that changes the Startsector on a drive (or all drivesojust the system drive) to either want to Start with ‘No. TLDR’othe new system that uses the file ‘Startmgr’. If you try to do this from the usbdrive it won’t work as it should since you are trying to edit the disk you are using the program on. I think it’s supposed to make it able to Start from FAT32 systems too, but i didn’t get that to work, so I say stick to No. TFS.
  6. No. w you should have an USB pendrive that you can use to install Vista from Start (provided your PC will let you Start from USB that is).

[Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for damaged computers / lost data / marriage resulting from this procedure. Although my brother usually knows what he’s doing he has also destroyed an impressive number of computers. Caution!]

How to install windows vista

Users may want to upgrade to Windows Vista without having an existing version of Windows 2000 or XP installed on their computer. Unfortunately, Microsoft requires users to upgrade to Windows Vista to initiate the upgrade process from Windows 2000 or XP. If you try upgrading to Windows Vista by Starting to the Vista upgrade CD, you receive the message below.

To use the product key you entered, start the installation from your existing version of Windows.

If you want a fresh copy of Windows Vista and your computer doesn’t have Windows 2000 or XP installed, try one of the options below. Both of these options require you to install the operating system twice. We recommend that you use the first alternative solution option.

  1. Boot from the Windows Vista CD and run Windows Vista Setup.
  2. When prompted to enter a Product Key for activation,do not enter the activation keyand clickNo. ext.
  3. You will be prompted to install Windows, asking if you want to enter the product key now. Click here No..
