Happy Chinese (or Lunar) New Year! My favorite thing about Chinese New Year is that my husband will prepare some delicious Chinese dishes. 10-minute tiger shrimp in Garlic Ginger soy sauce is juicy, tender and immersed in incredible Asian flavours. This is the perfect meal during the week.

  • 1 tablespoonolive oil
  • 2 tbspGinger, Earth
  • 1 tablespoonGarlic, Earth
  • 15 largetiger shrimp, treated, rinsed and dried
  • 1 tablespoonChinese cuisine wine
  • 4 tbspsoy sauce
  • ½ tbspsugar
  • 1 TeaspoonGround black pepper(optional)
  • 2 tbspwater
  • 2 tbspcorianderto garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Ginger and Garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add tiger shrimp and stir to coat with oil. Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure even cooking on all sides.
  2. Add the cooking wine and mix for 15 seconds. Stir in soy sauce and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in sugar, pepper(optional) and water. Turn on the heat, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat and stir the prawns, making sure that the sauce completely covers the prawns. Remove from the heat. (Note: the shrimp will be ready when they are evenly colored and shrink, but no smaller.)
  5. Serve with some coriander on top.
