Instructions

  1. Heat a wok over high heat. Add half the oil and heat for 30 seconds. Stir-fry prawns for 2–3 minutes or until prawns change colour and are just cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  2. Reheat wok over high heat. Add remaining oil and heat for 30 seconds. Add garlic, ginger and shallots and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add soy and oyster sauces and stock and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Return prawns to wok and stir-fry for 1 minute or until heated through. Serve prawns sprinkled with chilli and sesame seeds.

Happy Chinese (or Lunar) New Year! My favourite thing about Chinese New Year is that my hubby will whip up a bunch of delicious Chinese dishes. This year he surprised me with my favourite perfectly cooked, juicy, tender tiger prawns in delicious garlic ginger soy sauce. So, of course I had to photograph and share his masterpiece recipe with you.

Description

10-minute tiger prawns in garlic ginger soy sauce is juicy, tender and immersed in incredible Asian flavours. It’s the perfect weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 15 large tiger prawns, deveined, rinsed and dried
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ginger and garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add tiger prawns and stir to coat with oil. Continue to cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure even cooking on all sides.
  2. Stir in cooking wine and continue to stir for 15 seconds. Stir in soy sauce and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in sugar, pepper (optional) and water. Turn heat to high, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Turn heat down to low, give the prawns a final stir, ensuring that the sauce is coating prawns completely. Remove from heat. (Note: prawns will be done once they are evenly coloured and have shrunk in size but are no longer getting smaller).

Ingredients of Ginger Prawns

  • 250 gm prawns
  • 1 teaspoon tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon red chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • salt as required
  • 1/4 teaspoon Msg
  • 1 teaspoon tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon green chilli sauce
  • 11/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 bunch coriander leaves

How to make Ginger Prawns

Step 1 Add all ingredients in a bowl

Wash and keep prawns in a bowl. In another bowl, add soya sauce, msg (optional), green chili sauce, red chilli paste, crushed pepper powder, tomato puree, sugar, tomato ketchup, a pinch of salt, and vinegar. Mix all ingredients.

Step 2 Saute onion and garlic paste

Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and add onion paste along with garlic paste and cook until the raw flavour is gone.

Step 3 Saute the masala

Next, add in the chopped ginger along with the masala mixture prepared in step 1. Cook this until oil separates. Adjust the consistency of the gravy as you like.

Step 4 Cook prawns in gravy

Take another pan and add butter. When the butter has melted, add prawns and masala gravy, and cook it on a low flame until prawns are tender. Add chopped coriander leaves and serve it.

4. Now make a sauce by stirring together the following things • Orange juice • Zest • Curry paste • Fish sauce • Sugar • Water (3-4 tbsp)

5. Now heat the oil in a large wok and then add half ginger and garlic into it. Cook it with continuous stirring for about one minute

6. After this, add pepper and stir for about three mins more. Also, add the sugar snaps and the curry sauce. Continue stirring

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 g Spaghetti
  • Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic ; minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (fresh) ; peeled and grated
  • 1 Birdseye chilli ; seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 10 King prawns (raw) ; vein and shell removed, tails on.
  • 1 tbsp Flat Leaf Parsley ; coursely chopped
  • 1/2 Lemon ; juice only

INSTRUCTIONS

Boil the spaghetti according to the instructions. Remove it when it is al dente. Add a lug of olive olive and mix it through to keep it from sticking together. Meanwhile prepare the rest of the ingredients.
