You are responsible for looking after your breeders to ensure you have an enjoyable experience with each fill. Good news: it’s EASY! Keep it at a low temperature until you have time to clean it. The best thing to do is to clean your grower as soon as you’re done drinking it, but we know this isn’t always possible.     There are many benefits for growlers: they are reusable, relatively inexpensive and convenient.

    However, with these benefits comes the challenge of cleaning them. If you own one of the standard brown glass jugs you’ve probably noticed how small the opening of the growler i.

    1. Rinse the growler with warm water.
    2. Spin the water inside
    3. Drain the water
    4. Rinse, shake and drain a few times to make sure the entire internal surface has been clean

    How to clean the Funky Growler

    We’ve all been there. You had the best of intentions to clean the stove as soon as possible, but that was before the beer even started. Now wake up the next morning and the sticky, smelly growl is still in the sink.

    All is not lost. You can still clean and reuse the kitchen, but it may take a little more effort.

    We will basically follow the steps above but add a good soak between rinsing and drying.

    Here is an important tip:DO NOT immerse the grower in soapy water.

    How come? Due to the small neck opening, it is difficult to ensure that all soapy water is rinsed and drained from the bottle. You don’t want your next beer to taste like soap, do you?

    Use a colorless, odorless and oxygenated detergent, such as Oxiclean Versatile Free, in place of basic dish detergent.

    Oxiclean Versatile Free can be found in many grocery stores, but if you have trouble finding it you can always find it online (affiliate link).

    For most growers, add about a teaspoon of Oxiclean then fill with warm water. Let the detergent dissolve and leave it in the stove for about an hour. Continue rinsing well.

    After the growler has dried as described above, smell it well. Hopefully there’s no odor and you can call it done.

    But if the growler still stinks, we need to step up our efforts.

    1. Fill the sink with enough warm water to cover the lichen, then add Oxiclean in roughly the same proportion – 1 teaspoon per gallon.
    2. Soak your grower to get the cleaning solution and let it sit for an hour. (And throw away your hat too)
    3. Remove the growler from the cleaning solution.
    4. Rinse and mix with warm water
    5. put the drone back into the Oxiclean and into the water.
    6. Let it soak for another hour or more.
    7. Then rinse and air dry upside down in the dryer

    If after drying it still smells, repeat soaking until there is no lingering odor left.

    Your local brewery may refuse to fill your dirty grower, so if you don’t want to buy a new one locally it’s best to take care of what you have.

    A clean breeder will also ensure the perfect taste of the beer. So now that you have a clean growler in place, it’s time to fill it up!

    In a factory

    Your Craft Master Growler has been factory pre-cleaned with Trisodium Phosphate (TSP). If you choose to pre-clean yourself with TSP (as i common in the foodservice industry for new stainless-steel products) follow manufacturer’s recommendations, use a soft terry cloth, rie thoroughly, then dry.

    Cleaning the Growler

    • Rinse your grower by filling it to the top and then emptying half of the water. Shake the remaining water inside the pot and discard the rest.

    Poorly cleaned beer and beverage residues leave organic and inorganic residues as well as microorganisms. The more your growler is cleaned, the less likely microorganisms (such as mold) are to grow.

    Your growler is airtight, so stored uncapped or loose will help reduce the surface microbial population. Thoroughly rinse the cultivator with water before each use. Brewers keep your beers fresh for a long time and allow craft beer to be moved easily to new places. If you own one of these cool items, you should know how to care for it and how to properly clean your steel sore.     Step 1: Keep it cold

    Then use a brush to give your grower a good scrub. Make sure you don’t use a wire brush to clean your growler as it could damage the container.
